Content
Good morning.

Hereâs what youâll find in todayâs newsletter:
Letâs get going. â

đ Your ad account doesnât need content fast. It needs content every week.
Most brands stall between batches, when the last round of creative is spent and the next one isnât ready.
Since Metaâs Andromeda update, the algorithm rewards new concepts and new faces. A batch of 16 videos exhausts in weeks, and then itâs another round of briefs, outreach, and chasing.
Insense turns creator content into a monthly flow:

P.S. Q5 rewards brands that keep fresh creative coming after the Black Friday rush. Go in with a cadence, not a single shoot.

đ PMax needs at least 15 conversions a month
PMax performance all over the place? Check how many conversions itâs getting.
Googleâs troubleshooting page says campaigns need at least 15 conversions over 30 days for stable performance. Tracking problems and delays in reporting purchases can also make results look uneven.
Before changing your campaign, check that purchases are being recorded correctly and give delayed conversions time to show up.
Hitting 15 doesnât guarantee profitable results. Itâs a starting point for checking whether Google has enough data before you increase BFCM spend.
đ Study this strategy before blaming Meta
@PhilKiel shares how it is possible to scale even when CPMs are up. Some of his biggest accounts increased spend by 21% from September to October, while CPA fell 3% and purchases rose 23%.
His team started scaling early, checked cost caps daily, and tested retention with a holdout before adding budget. The brands built pages to match winning ads and shipped creator samples fast.
Before BFCM, check whether your team can keep landing pages and fresh creative moving when a winner takes off.
đ¤ Shopify is testing commissions for AI shopping referrals
This one was buried in last weekâs Shopify Edition, but itâs worth pulling out. When an AI assistant helps someone buy a product, the company behind it could get paid.
Shopify is testing a program that pays participating AI developers 0.3% on eligible purchases they refer. Brands using Shop Campaigns can fund an extra commission on top.
That extra payment comes with conditions. It applies to eligible US campaigns, and the shopper must complete the purchase in the Shop app or on shop.com.
The program is still an invite-only developer preview. If you use Shop Campaigns, check your external-platform settings and what those commissions would cost you. Shopify hasnât said whether paying a higher commission affects where your products appear in recommendations.
đş Instagram reportedly offers creators up to $500K for longer videos
Remember Features, Instagramâs new long-video format? Turns out Metaâs paying some creators to use it.
Select creators have received offers of $50,000 to $500,000 to post there.
Meta confirmed itâs funding some creators, but didnât confirm the amounts. Thereâs no payment program everyone can join yet.
Work with creators who already make podcasts, interviews, or product demos? Ask whether they have access. Check the posting requirements before planning to reuse existing videos.
đ Your customer lists need a BFCM refresh
A manually uploaded customer list wonât know who bought on Black Friday unless you refresh it.
That can mean paying to promote something they already own, showing them a discount immediately after they bought it, or sending a âwe miss youâ message to someone who just returned.
Before holiday traffic picks up, check whether your audiences reflect what customers are doing now.
What to refresh:
Put these refreshes on your calendar:

Pilothouse recommends treating these as checkpoints. When orders spike, refresh manual lists more often.
Automate the upkeep
Where your tools support it, use customer-audience integrations to keep membership current. Rolling purchaser audiences can also help maintain exclusions, though tracking coverage and matching affect how complete they are.
Check that syncs are running, audience sizes look plausible, and exclusions are actually applied to the intended campaigns.
You donât need to exclude every customer from every campaign. The goal is to match the next message to their latest purchase, whether that means giving them breathing room or showing them a relevant second product.

đ Your next customer might be asking AI who to buy from
Quick question. When was the last time you asked ChatGPT what to buy?
If the answerâs ârecently,â youâre not alone. We surveyed 556 online shoppers and 146 DTC operators for The Invisible Shelf, our AI Discovery Report, and it turns out AI is already influencing what people buy.
53% of AI-assisted shoppers told us theyâd bought from a brand theyâd never heard of because AI recommended it.
Thatâs a lot of people meeting brands for the first time inside a chat window. The report gets into which assistants theyâre using to research products, what makes them trust a recommendation, and where brands are putting money into AI visibility right now. Plus four actions to improve your AI visibility and measurement.

đ§ Your BFCM offer isnât enough for cold traffic
A 30% discount lands differently with someone who already knows your brand than with someone discovering it for the first time.
On the latest DTC Rundown episode, Jacob and Abby from Pilothouseâs Meta team break down why brands should think differently about BFCM creative for cold and retargeting audiences.
For someone who already knows your products, the offer can do most of the work. Clear, bold creative that puts the discount front and center may be exactly what gets them to finally buy.
Cold traffic still needs more convincing.
Theyâre seeing discounts everywhere, and 30% off doesnât tell them why your cookware, skincare, or apparel deserves their attention. Your creative still needs strong hooks, product education, and enough variety to introduce the brand while making the BFCM offer impossible to miss.
That means you probably shouldnât be running the exact same BFCM ads to everyone.
Jacob and Abby also get into how theyâre using video to diversify creative, when brands should start their sales this year, and why Cyber Monday shouldnât automatically signal the end of your holiday push.
