‍TACTICAL

Memes are out, emojis are in — Jump on this trend ASAP

‍

‍

A year ago, everyone was all in on memes.

‍

Why? Because they were:

  • 1️⃣ Cheap to run,
  • 2️⃣ Highly engaged with
  • 3️⃣ Conveyed complicated messaging in a simplified piece of content

Buuuut, like most marketing tactics that take off, they’re now highly saturated on your customers’  timelines, making them less likely to stop the thumb.

‍

So what’s next? Emojis in your ad images. Why? 👇

‍

‍

With one easy-to-skim image, ads like this one convey a range of positive emotions in a single, easily replicable format for your brand to build on with future creatives.

‍

The Pilothouse Meta team is seeing staggeringly low click costs on this (think pennies) so if there’s one thing you take from today’s newsletter, give emojis in your ad images a chance.

PRODUCT EDUCATION

🤔 You think people know how to use your product, but do they actually?

‍

‍

This is your very important Tuesday reminder that product education is vital. 👏

‍

You know how your product should work and how you intend for it to be used, but do your consumers?

‍

Here’s some inspo (other than FAQ’s) to educate your shoppers:

‍

1. Comparison charts: If you have a range of products, a comparison chart can help customers understand the differences and choose the right product for their needs.

‍

‍

2. Instructional infographics: Visual aids can simplify complex ideas or processes. An infographic detailing how your product works or its benefits can be easily shared on social media.

‍

3. Unboxing videos: If the product requires assembly or has many components, an unboxing video can provide customers with a clear idea of what to expect and how to start (bonus — these perform well in the ad account).

‍

4. Affiliate or influencer partnerships: Collaborate with influencers in your industry to review your product or offer tutorials to their audience.

‍

Product/service education helps customers know how your product works, different ways they can use it, and promotes positive reviews and repeat purchases for your brand.

‍NEWS DEEP DIVE

😬 X in Hot Water for Missing Ad Labels

‍

Many X ads have been displayed without their required ad label, potentially violating FTC rules.

‍

X previously made ad labels smaller for ad content to seem more organic. However, this raised the FTC’s eyebrows about clear and conspicuous labeling practices.

‍

Some X Premium subscribers reported ads being completely absent on their profiles. These issues could be part of a broader glitch in X's ad delivery system amidst sweeping changes to staffing and the X platform.

‍

It’s clear that definitive ad labels are essential to staying out of legal hot water.
