As your email subscriber list continues to grow, it becomes increasingly important to stay on top of your email hygiene to create a healthy email marketing campaign.

What’s email hygiene? 📧

Email hygiene is the process of staying up to date with ‘cleaning’ your subscriber list, deleting invalid emails to avoid high bounce backs, and removing addresses that were entered incorrectly.

Poor email hygiene can lead to email deliverability issues, increased spam complaints, and hurt your sender's reputation.

Don’t get caught up in this cycle. ❌

Good email hygiene requires you to clean your list regularly.

Here are 3 email hygiene best practices to follow:

• Delete inactive or invalid emails: Either your subscriber doesn’t use this email anymore or they aren’t interested enough to open your content.
• Set a cleaning schedule: Go over your list regularly so you are actively taking off invalid emails or duplicate addresses. You should be scrubbing your list at least every 3 months.
• Avoid purchased lists: Although it can be tempting, these lists may have poor hygiene and it’s best to grow organically even if you are starting from zero.
