Good morning.
Starting today with a little shoutout to every business owner who has ever woken up at 2am, typed something completely incoherent into their Notes app, and gone back to sleep convinced they just changed the company forever.

Only to open your Notes app the next morning and try to decipher what “subscription but make it fun???” was supposed to mean…
Anyways, let’s dive in.
🍪 A fake translate screenshot creative we spotted
Check out how @andreascookies is using a mock Google Translate screenshot to launch their Strawberry Matcha cookie drop.

Type a buzzword into the left box (e.g. your product name or category), get a flattering definition on the right. They paired this with an aesthetic product shot backdrop.
Here’s why this one caught our attention:
It doesn’t scream “this is a promotion”. The Google Translate interface is instantly recognizable, so the scroll-past instinct doesn't fire the way it does for anything that looks too produced.
It does double duty. The product is incorporated into the backdrop, so the ad is selling the drop even while the joke is getting shares and saves.
Easy to scale. Swap the buzzword, swap the definition, keep the same product backdrop.
How to replicate this format:
1️⃣ Shoot your best-selling or newest product as a tiled, repeating pattern background.
2️⃣ Build a translate-style overlay graphic and swap in a new buzzword and definition for each post. Tie the "definition" to an actual product benefit or feeling, not just a generic joke, so the ad still does selling work.
3️⃣ Keep a running list of trending terms in your category and rotate them through the same template for cheap, ongoing volume.
📦 TikTok Shop rewards full commitment, not partial effort
I recently chatted with operators who are deep in the TikTok Shop trenches (live shopping specifically).
One operator's four-part creator funnel is producing real revenue. He leans into samples, but requires a video before sending more, promotes top performers into paid relationships, then recruits lookalike creators and bigger influencers for larger campaigns.
That operator is running about $1M/month through TikTok Shop now, projecting $2-3M/month by year-end, as part of a business targeting $200-220M in total revenue this year.
Tactics that came up repeatedly were to drive early viewers to the live to kick off the algorithm, use flash sales and timed deals to hold attention, and keep a consistent daily time slot to bring back viewers.
Live shopping is the strongest lever inside that funnel. One weekly two-hour show generates about $30k, and the plan is to expand to two hours a day, five days a week. On-air talent gets salary plus commission, with the lead host projected to clear $100k-$200k in commission during the first year.
Multiple operators flagged the operational cost of this approach. Live shopping needs consistent scheduling, dedicated on-air talent, live customer service, and active community management. Running multiple ad managers for Shop versus standard ads adds attribution complexity on top of that.
A hero SKU with platform-specific pricing came up as one workaround for avoiding price-matching conflicts between TikTok Shop and other channels.
Ambassador and affiliate programs follow the same sample-gating logic: require content before granting more samples, and build a real playbook so creators know what to post and how much to produce. Discord or Slack handles onboarding, briefs, and leaderboards. One supplement brand saw 100% month-over-month sales growth after launching this way in April, using $20-25 trial packs to drive first purchase.
This week: Price out what a daily live show would cost to see if this is a feasible option heading into Q4.
⏱️ The 730-day window Meta gave you might not fit how your customers buy
A few months back, we covered Meta's expansion of purchase-based custom audience retention from 180 days to 730 days.
The update gives Meta's algorithm more historical purchaser data to model against, aiming for sharper audience targeting and campaign optimization.
Advertisers who prefer a shorter window can revert manually through the notification banner in the Audiences section of Ads Manager.
Whether the extra data helps your account depends on your business model.
Pilothouse's take: brands with longer repurchase cycles stand to benefit most. Brands with short buying cycles may see cleaner results with a tighter window.
Three factors to check before leaving the default setting alone:
Pilothouse reports the strongest results so far on accounts with AOV over $1,000, where the longer window lines up more closely with how those customers actually shop.

🎧 Why Your Winning Meta Ad Dies in 8 Days, and What to Test Instead
Liam and Nate, two of Pilothouse's first employees who've since spun out their own Meta-only agency called Marlbank Digital, walked through why most Meta wins don't last. Find a hook that beats another hook, scale it this week, and it's usually fatigued again within about eight days. The wins that actually hold up come from what they call circumstance testing, building the campaign around the exact moment in someone's life your product fits into, not just the creative.
They talk through an example of a ceramic to-go cup brand going nowhere with pretty product shots or an eco pitch. The lack of momentum made them try a different question: would you use a metal mug at home? That turned the pitch into an upgrade for people who already carried a cup, and zeroing in on their actual commute made it even stronger. That's the kind of win that lasts more than a week.
They also get into the account structure behind it, open top-of-funnel audiences, creative held constant so circumstance is the variable being tested, why one ad in a set usually eats 80% of the spend no matter how many you launch, and the four things they want in place before a brand spends a dollar on Meta.
If your account feels like a graveyard of creative tests that never compounded, or you're the one person running Meta at a brand doing under $100K a month, this is a working session, not just a conversation.
Go listen.
